General Information
Sault Ste. Marie Airport is located at the extreme western boundary
of the City of Sault Ste. Marie approximately 16 kilometers from the
city centre. The airport can be accessed easily via Second Line and
Airport Road. There are many "Airport" signs located within
the downtown area and near the bridge plaza and on both Highways 17
East and North to direct persons to the airport.
For passengers who wish to use their own vehicles,
a large paid public parking lot is available. Transportation
is also available from 7500 Taxi, Elite, Skyline,
and Comfort Limousines who have contracts for ground
transportation with the Sault Ste. Marie Airport.
Arriving passengers also may obtain a rental car
from either Enterprise or Budget Rent a Car located
in the Air Terminal Building. Our arrangements with
Checker Cab ensure all scheduled flights are met
with available cars for persons requiring transportation.
If you are staying with the Best Western, Algoma's
Water Tower Inn or the Holiday Inn, they offer hotel
Bus Shuttles to and from the airport.
Air Canada Jazz, and Bearskin Airlines operate daily services to
and from the Sault Ste. Marie Airport. The flight schedule times
vary throughout the year. Sault Ste. Marie Airport is one of the
28 busiest airports in the country.
We have two 6,000-foot runways, one equipped with an instrument
landing system, and a series of taxiways to carry aircraft to a
spacious apron located in front of the terminal building. We have
a full complement of maintenance and clerical staff to carry out
the required tasks legislated by the federal
government ensuring a safe, efficient operation.
A number of charter flights are carried out each year. We have
had return visits for trips to the fall colour tour and the snow
train on the Algoma Central Railway from Minneapolis and Detroit
via B727 jet.
Sault Ste. Marie Airport welcomes charter operators and are willing
to assist with arrangements for these flights.
